Terms of Employment: 
12 months/ 211 days per year. Salary is at the PG4 on the EISD Compensation Plan. Entry level rate of pay is $15.02 with additional consideration based upon directly related experience. 

 

This position is grant-funded; therefore, continuation of employment is contingent upon available grant funds.

 

Primary Purpose:

The Early Head Start Clerk will provide program support and maintain documentation of compliance in all program areas.

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or Accredited General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Background check / fingerprinting
  • Infant, child, and Adult CPR and First Aid or enrollment in courses within (90) ninety days of employment
  • Initial health exam required for all EHS employees at employee’s expense

Experience:

  • (1) One to (3) three years of clerical experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience with Early Head Start or Head Start preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Data and Program Compliance 

  1. Perform monitoring of Early Head Start files for program compliance.
  2. Maintain assigned data in ChildPlus.
  3. Ensure accurate and timely completion of the annual PIR Report.
  4. Ensure that all reports are complete and accurate.
  5. Maintain and ensure confidentiality of information contained in ChildPlus and all files.
  6. Participate in all applicable trainings (Early Head Start, Child Care Licensing, etc.) sessions, department meetings, and special events including meetings with the City of San Antonio as needed.
  7. Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, city, and district policies and regulations.
  8. Complete daily enrollment reports.
  9. Maintain participant attendance.
  10. Support ChildPlus data entry in education and other program areas.
  11. Record and track immunizations.
  12. Assist with follow up of required information.
  13. Enter student health data.
  14. Document referrals and services.
  15. Forward nutrition information for processing.
  16. Maintain nutrition status in ChildPlus.
  17. Maintain employee data.
  18. Obtain vision and hearing state certifications, SPOT certification, and OAE training.

 General Office Duties

  1. Greet visitors.
  2. Answer phone calls.
  3. Support office operations.

 Health and Safety

  1. Adhere to all Head Start Performance Standards.
  2. Adhere to all Child Care Licensing Standards.
  3. Provide first aid or CPR, prevent the spread of blood borne pathogens, and access emergency services as needed.
  4. Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  5. Respond appropriately to crisis or emergency situations that may occur.
  6. Complete medication administration training required by CCL.
  7. Assist in medication administration.
  8. Assist in general maintenance and security of facility.

 Professionalism

  1. Create and maintain respectful partnerships with families.
  2. Attend meetings, staffing, training, and professional development activities as appropriate.
  3. Maintain a positive and professional attitude and attire.
  4. Provide adequate notice to Coordinator on time off requests.
  5. Maintain excellent punctuality and attendance.
  6. Provide and maintain quality customer service.

 Other

  1. Assist with inventory of equipment and supplies.
  2. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor which effect program quality.
