Terms of Employment:
10 months/187 days per year. Salary is on the Teacher Salary Schedule on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Starting teacher salary is $53,000.00 with Bachelor's degree; and additional stipend of $1,523.00 for Master's degree, with additional consideration for directly related experience.

  

Primary Purpose:
If you are an innovative teacher and lead learner with unrelenting determination to see your students succeed, the Winston Intermediate STEAM Teacher role in EISD will empower you to spark student learning to impact student performance. This position is responsible for collaboratively implementing the STEAM program and is also responsible for collaborating with teachers in promoting interdisciplinary STEAM activities into the core curriculum.

Qualification:
Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Valid Texas Teacher’s Certification with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of core academic subject(s) assigned
  • Integrate technology in classroom instruction using 21st century fluencies
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations in the school environment
  • Communicate effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skills
  • Utilize effective data-based problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of urban methodology and effective practices
  • Demonstrate effective collaboration skills
  • Use effective strategies for differentiating instruction
  • Exhibit knowledge of standards-based curriculum
  • Exhibit knowledge of special education, dyslexia, RtI, 504, and ESL services to students

Experience:

  • At least one year student teaching or approved internship

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Deliver STEAM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods (district model).
  2. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning.
  3. Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  4. Effective facilitation and implementation of technology as a communication and educational tool to increase student learning and manage work related tasks
  5. Works directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of STEAM initiatives and curriculum.
  6. Organizes, develops, and coordinates special STEAM events/activities.
  7. Supports teachers on STEAM initiatives and instructional best practices in the STEAM areas.
  8. Serves as liaison to prospective or selected STEAM vendors, to determine the best resources, options and innovations that will optimize the learning experience for students and staff.
  9. Initiates new programs that support the STEAM vision.
  10. Shares STEAM events and activities through social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  11. Follows the District’s job description for teacher.
  12. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  13. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  14. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  15. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  16. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  17. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  18. Participate in team reviews concerning academic progress of at-risk students who are not responding to intervention.
  19. Attend scheduled meetings and parent conferences.
  20. Assist the school's curriculum personnel in providing services to special populations.

Professional Development

  1. Participate in staff development activities to meet the needs of innovated school.
  2. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  3. Continue professional growth and strengthen professional teaching knowledge, skills, and strategies through workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work.
  4. Provide demonstration lessons for faculty and staff
  5. Attends professional development and training related to STEM programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research
  6. Participate in Professional Learning Communities and Focused Planning Sessions

Other

  1. Perform other duties as assigned in the best interest of the school district.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise students and monitor workflow of instructional assistants, if applicable
