Terms of Employment: 12 months/ 226 days per year.  Salary is at the Administrative Support Pay Plan - PG 5 on the EISD Compensation Plan.  Annual salary range is $27,917 – $34,053 based upon directly related experience.

 

Primary Purpose

Ensure the efficient operation of the school’s administration office, provide clerical services for the school’s administrative staff and manage school finance, cash and budget accounts.

 

NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant, before continuing within the process towards possible employment.

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency); and
  • Thirty (30) hours of college credit from an accredited institution ; or
  • Minimum of two (2) years of school secretarial experience with extensive contact with the general public
  • Eligible to obtain a typing test of 30 words per minute must be administered by Workforce Solutions Alamo Career Center within 90 days fo employment with EISD.  

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in general office management and procedures.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and high level of integrity regarding student records, employment records and campus issues.
  • Must be self-motivated, possess the ability to work under pressure, able to handle multiple tasks and work collaboratively.

 

Experience

  • Three years of full-time work related experience and general knowledge of routine office procedures to include customer service, telephone etiquette, efficient and effective filing and bookkeeping procedures. 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties

 

Office Climate

  • Supervise workflow of the campus and office staff as needed.
  • Assist students, teachers, parents and District personnel as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies; order supplies and materials as needed.
  • Maintain and assist with operation of office machines as needed.
  • Prepare materials for school distribution.

Communication and Phones

  • Receive incoming calls, answer questions, take messages and route to appropriate staff.
  • Greet visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Schedule meetings and appointments and maintain calendar for principal/staff.

Records and Reports

  • Prepare and edit correspondence/reports for principal and designated school staff.
  • Maintain general office files; save/store required documents per policy and administrative procedures.
  • Establish and maintain recordkeeping procedures for the campus.
  • Monitor appropriate use of the budget (secure monies received; prepare monies for deposit; dispense monies, paychecks, travel checks, reimbursements, etc.)
  • Maintain payroll information including attendance reporting, absence reports, etc.
  • Prepare documents/school calendars, and other materials to be distributed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None 

 

Equipment Used

Office equipment and tools: calculator, computer, printer, copier, fax, multiline telephone, and other equipment applicable to position. 

 

Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands:

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing, speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.

 

Environmental Factors:

Frequent exposure to:  temperature extremes, humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration, biological hazards, working on uneven surfaces, working alone, working prolonged or irregular hours.
