Terms of Employment:

12 months/ 226 days per year.  Salary is at the Auxiliary Pay Plan AUX6 on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Entry level rate of pay is $21.28/hour with additional consideration based upon directly related experience.

 

Primary Purpose:

To ensure that all District facilities have effective burglar alarm, access control, intercom and door lock systems

 

NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant, before continuing within the process towards possible employment.

 

Qualifications:
Education/Certification

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting agency)
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License Class C with a good driving record and must meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility

Experience:

  • One (1) year experience installing access control systems and burglar systems, preferred
  • One (1) year experience installing security cameras and intercom system, preferred
  • Electronics experience preferred

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Equipment Maintenance and Repair

  1. Cross train as needed
  2. Install, repair, replace and maintain access control and lock systems
  3. Install, repair, replace and maintain security cameras and intercom system
  4. Install, repair, replace and maintain security alarm system-equipment
  5. Make purchases and use supplies and equipment in accordance with instructions
  6. Manage and maintain workloads as assigned
  7. Install surveillance, access control and telecommunication cabling
  8. Assist with UPS installations
  9. Coordinate cabling installation
  10. Coordinate access control, surveillance and fire alarm installations and repairs
  11. Obtain quotes for access control, surveillance and fire alarm installations

Telecommunications

  1. Install, troubleshoot and repair network ports
  2. Install, troubleshoot and repair fax lines and telecom lines
  3. Install 66 & 110 blocks and analog cabling

 

UPS

  1. Install, configure and troubleshoot UPS systems
  2. Coordinate UPS system installation
  3. Maintain UPS documentation and inventory

 

Fire Alarms

  1. Troubleshoot fire alarm system
  2. Reset fire alarm systems
  3. Coordinate fire drills
  4. Troubleshoot monitoring systems (phone lines)
  5. Report fire alarm issues, smoke detectors, panels, AV devices ect
  6. Install, repair, replace and maintain access control and lock systems 

Safety and Security

  1. Issue codes and/or keys to appropriate person(s) and provide related training
  2. Provide temporary and/or emergency security solutions when warranted
  3. Research security footage and provide video on disk when an event occurs
  4. Act with high regard for safety and security; show concern for the needs of students and other personnel and District property

Qualities of Effective Access Control/Electronic Alarm Technicians

 

  1. Work with minimum supervision
  2. Extended work hours and work weeks are required
  3. Ability to work an on-call schedule as needed
  4. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and federal policies, including daily attendance, punctuality and confidentiality.
  5. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
  6. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

 

Equipment:

Office equipment: personal computer, printer, calculator, copier, and fax machine

Shop equipment and tools:  ladder, small hand tools (screwdriver, wrench, hammer, socket, pliers, crimpers, wire cutter, etc.)

Vehicles and related Equipment:  light van, seat belts, shoulder harnesses, safety equipment (flares, reflective signs) and fire extinguisher

Communication equipment: radio, cellular phone and video monitoring equipment
