Description | Terms of Employment:
12 months/ 226 days per year. Salary is at the Auxiliary Pay Plan AUX7 on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Entry level rate of pay is $25.04/hour with additional consideration based upon directly related experience.
Primary Purpose:
Assist with district IP phone system, wireless network, switches, routers, and other network devices.
NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant, before continuing within the process towards possible employment.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- A+ Certification
- Prefer entry level CISCO certifications: CCNA or CCDA
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge with CISCO VOIP
- Knowledge of working with switches 6500, 3750 and wireless AP
- Good communication skills (written reports, procedures, and histories)
- Ability to work outside schedule hours when needed.
- Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license with good driving record.
Experience:
- One to three years in a network support environment
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Network Responsibilities
- Install and test network hardware, software, and upgrades; identify and resolve network issues; implement and maintain all system configurations and perform system maintenance under the supervision of the Network Engineer
- Maintain DHCP scopes & IP réservations
- Troubleshoot routing and switching issues
- Diagnose and repair network connectivity and hardware issues; work with system users to identify needs and correct problems.
- Ensure the maintenance of all local area networks by tracking significant problems, monitoring performance, and installing upgrades to hardware and software.
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of network equipment.
- Ensures the maintenance of all computers, software, and local area networks by monitoring performance
- Installs upgrades to hardware and software
- Makes recommendations to building-level staff regarding upgrades and replacement of technology-related equipment
- Operates standard and specialized electronics devices in testing and troubleshooting computers and other technology-related equipment.
- Attends classes and seminars to enhance knowledge of equipment and operating systems.
- Keep informed of and comply with state and district policies.
- Uses a work-order tracking system for routine repair and maintenance of equipment
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
- Work with software and hardware vendors to maintain adequate product support.
- Run backup procedures on all network and server equipment on a regular basis and restore district data as needed
- Troubleshoot network drops, patch panels, ports
- Install network-fax line cabling as needed
- Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed and support other duties as assigned.
Wireless
- Install of wireless access points, wireless bridges, Wyebot systems
- Monitor wireless channel utilization
- Troubleshoot wireless issues
- Troubleshoot exterior/outdoor access points (Cambium) systems
- Update access point map location and heat map coverage
- Troubleshoot wireless DHCP, DNS, issues
- Troubleshoot wireless SSID issues
Voice
- Configure & troubleshoot IP phone system PBX and Gateways, voicemails, extensions and phones
- Configure voicemails, extensions and phones
- Maintain Voice system DHCP scopes
- Configure, install, and troubleshoot district fax lines
- Maintain phone documentation and inventory
Marquee
- Troubleshoot school Marquee system’s software, sign communications, antennas
- Provide quotes for parts
- Maintain documentation
AI Phones
- Install, configure and troubleshoot AI Phones, master and client stations
- Provide quotes for new master and client stations
- Maintain IP and VLAN database
Telecommunications
- Install, troubleshoot and repair network ports
- Install, troubleshoot and repair fax lines and telecom lines
- Install 66 & 110 blocks and analog cabling
UPS
- Install, configure and troubleshoot UPS systems
- Coordinate UPS system installation
- Maintain UPS documentation and inventory
