Terms of Employment: 

11 months/ 202 days per year. Salary is on the Teacher Salary Schedule on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Starting teacher salary is $55,000 with Bachelor's degree and additional stipend of $1,523.00 for Master's degree, with additional consideration for directly related experience.

If you are an innovative teacher and lead learner with unrelenting determination to see your students succeed, the Brentwood STEAM School of Innovation Project Lead the Way Teacher role at Edgewood ISD will empower you to spark student learning to impact student performance. Brentwood STEAM School of Innovation Project Lead the Way Teachers are capable team players, demonstrate a growth mindset, work collaboratively to maximize student potential, and have a desire to continuously improve their own instructional practice. Brentwood STEAM School of Innovation Project Lead the Way Teachers will be responsible for accelerating their students’ learning and ensuring that they reach their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. 

Qualification:
Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Valid Texas Teacher’s Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of core academic subject(s) assigned
  • Integrate technology in classroom instruction using 21st century fluencies 
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations in the school environment
  • Communicate effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skills 
  • Utilize effective data-based problem-solving skills 
  • Knowledge of urban methodology and effective practices
  • Demonstrate effective collaboration skills 
  • Use effective strategies for differentiating instruction 
  • Exhibit knowledge of standards-based curriculum 
  • Exhibit knowledge of Special Education, Dyslexia, RTI, 504, and ESL services to students

Experience:

  • At least one-year student teaching or approved internship.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  5. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  6. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  7. Participate in team reviews concerning academic progress of at-risk students who are not responding to intervention.
  8. Attend scheduled meetings and parent conferences.
  9. Assist the school's curriculum personnel in providing services to special populations. 
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Professional Development

  1. Participate in staff development activities to meet the needs of innovated school.
  2. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  3. Continue professional growth and strengthen professional teaching knowledge, skills, and strategies through workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work. 
  4. Provide demonstration lessons for faculty and staff.
  5. Participate in Professional Learning Communities and Focused Planning Sessions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise students and monitor workflow of instructional assistants, if applicable.

Office equipment – personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone; Communication equipment – Radio communication equipment, cellular telephone; Video monitoring equipment

Environmental Factors:
Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, vibration
Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.), work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces, work alone, work prolonged or irregular hours

Brentwood STEAM School of Innovation Project Lead the Way Teacher

  1. Create a video introducing yourself (no more than 10 minutes in length)
  2. Share highlights from your resume and provide specific examples of the experiences you bring aligned to the position.
  3. Include your thoughts on how STEAM and problem-based learning will be addressed in your content area.
  4. Close your video by telling us why you should be considered for the position.

 

Provide evidence of your learning. Submit the following artifacts with the appropriate written reflection requested.

  1. A model lesson plan –Why do you believe this is a model lesson plan? What do you believe is most challenging about developing rigorous lessons?
  2. A strategy/activity you have used or seen – What indicators did you use to determine this strategy/activity was effective and/or aligned to the standards?
