****This position is for the current 2019-2020 School Year***

 

Terms of Employment:
10 months/187 days per year. Salary is on the Teacher Salary Schedule on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Starting teacher salary for 2019-2020 is $53,000.00 with Bachelor's degree; and additional stipend of $1,523.00 for Master's degree, with additional consideration for directly related experience.

 

NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant, before continuing within the process towards possible employment.

 

Primary Purpose: 

Provide students with appropriate, hands-on, learning activities and meaningful instruction. Assist in developing student’s competencies that allow them to successfully enter a post-secondary school and/or training program or entrance to the job market with the ability to function in a multifaceted industry that offers ever-expanding opportunities. Provide students with broad, transferable concepts and job skills: such as job search, interviewing, and resume writing skills. Provide opportunities for students to earn industry certifications. Provide opportunities for student growth by assisting in providing a student organization, student competitions, and advisory committee for program.

 

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; plus two (2) years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten (10) years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching, and current licensure by a state or nationally recognized accrediting agency in any approved occupations for the classes you will be teaching; OR
  • Associates' degree from an accredited institution; plus two (2) years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten (10) years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching, and current licensure by a state or nationally recognized accrediting agency in any approved occupations for the classes you will be teaching; OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent; plus five (5) years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten (10) years in an approved occupation for the classes you will be teaching, and current licensure by a state or nationally recognized accrediting agency in any approved occupations for the classes you will be teaching.

Experience:

Two years of experience in the Law Enforcement field

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work with at-risk youth
  • Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of professional law enforcement equipment
  • Ability to recruit and maintain students in program
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use technology in teaching and learning
  • Enthusiasm for building relationships with all students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to seek industry partnerships to obtain additional learning opportunities for students
  • Ability to prepare students to “effectively” compete in events such as Police Explorers Competition.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:


Instructional Strategies

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.


Student Growth and Development

  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.


Classroom Management and Organization

  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.


Communication

  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.


Professional Growth and Development

  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise assigned teacher aide(s), if necessary.


Working Conditions:


Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
