Terms of Employment:

12 months/ 226 days per year.  Salary is at the Information Technology Pay Plan IT3 on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Salary range is $45,272 - $52,034 with additional consideration based upon directly related experience.

 

NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by applicant.

 

Primary Purpose:
The Mobile Device Technician position analyzes and performs repairs related to Apple systems, operating issues, and their peripherals; installs, configures, and fixes MacOS and interacts with their users and guides them on queries and issues related to hardware and software; configures, installs, updates, and maintains Mac systems, their peripherals, and mobile devices such as iPads and iPhones.

 

The Mobile Device Technician must partner with IT help desk and the network infrastructure team in order to install, upgrade, and maintain equipment and the infrastructure required for the organization. The technician performs diagnostic tests to evaluate and isolate system problems and suggests suitable solutions. The Mobile Device Technician should assess system configuration and software so that hardware resources can be used effectively; must monitor, trace, and document problems in a bid to resolve them promptly; should be able to identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair technical issues. The Mobile Device Technician should carry out data backups of Apple equipment, besides computers with other operating systems, such as Windows and Linux, and servers of his/her organization.


 
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two-year college or technical school majoring in computer services/repairs preferred
  • A+ Certification or eligible to obtain A+ Certification within one (1) year of employment
  • Apple Certified Mac Technician preferred
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license with good driving record

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of Windows and Apple computer or related equipment service experience
  • Experience working, repairing, and configuring Windows and Apple devices

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Understanding of mechanical, electronic and computer principles as applied to the repair and maintenance of computers and peripherals
  • Knowledge of Windows and Apple operating systems for installation, configuration and maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of computer, multimedia and peripheral repairs
  • Good communication skills (written reports, procedures, and histories)
  • Ability to work outside schedule hours and needed

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Maintains a sense of urgency while multitasking and turning around service orders and repairs to staff members as quickly as possible.
  2. Provides support to the user community to include the identification, research and resolution of technical problems.
  3. Works with other Windows and Apple Tech Support staff when ordering parts and resolving issues.
  4. Responds to telephone calls, E-Mails, and Help Desk requests for technical support.
  5. “Bulk-image” Operating Systems on new devices.
  6. Installs approved software releases, patches, system upgrades, and resolves software related problems.
  7. Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems; repair or replace components in laptops, desktops, printers and other peripherals.
  8. Orders and receives parts and managing inventory of parts.
  9. Inventories new equipment in order to avoid equipment loss.
  10. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  11. Recognizes problem areas, defines solutions, and implements those solutions in a timely manner.
  12. Interacts with district staff to resolve issues pertaining to Technology.
  13. Investigates errors and problems; performs root-cause analysis to provide permanent resolutions.
  14. Receives and transports new equipment when necessary.
  15. Works with IT team to identify and implement plans for technology upgrades and deployments.
  16. Picks-up and delivers district equipment for repairs when necessary.
  17. Provides remote support when applicable for computer systems to minimize downtime.
  18. Willing to work before or after normal operating hours to minimize district downtime during adverse situations.
  19. Participates in continued education of all Windows and Apple products and services; acquires additional certification if deemed necessary.
  20. Perform other IT functions as workflow permits.
  21. Any other duties as assigned.

Maintains emotional control under stress. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills enough to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds.
