Terms of Employment: 10 months/ 187 days per year. Salary is at Administrative Support Pay Grade PG4 on the EISD Compensation Plan. Annual salary range is $21,066 – $25,385 based upon directly related experience.
Primary Purpose: The primary responsibility of the Parent Engagement Liaison will be to develop and implement a quality campus parental involvement program aligned with best practices, campus needs, the Campus Improvement Plan, and Title 1a compliance requirements and guidelines.
NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by applicant.
Qualifications: Minimum Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Forty-eight (48) hours of college credit from an accredited college or university; OR
- Three (3) years of directly related experience working in schools or community services with parents, agencies, families and staff or working with community groups.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
- Demonstrate food organizational skills, writing skills, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with parents, campuses staff and community agencies.
- Computer skills and presentation skills are essential.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Plan and coordinate programs, activities, policies and procedures to enhance parent engagement..
- Develop and implement long and short-term goals, objectives, and strategies for the parental involvement program for the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP).
- Design, coordinate, and attend designated activities and maintain required documentation.
- Facilitate communication between school, parents and social services partners.
- Develop partnerships with community based organizations and businesses in parental involvement activities.
- Assist in the planning, organizational and implementation of seminars and workshops with the staff and parents.
- Conduct home visits to promote parental involvement in schools.
- Develop and maintain speaker’s bureau and schedule speakers as requested. Collect and maintain information and data pertaining to program.
- Keep informed and comply with the “Elementary and Secondary Education Act” (ESEA) regulations. Implement all activities required by ESEA and maintain required documentation for compliance.
- Work with Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
- Assist in the recruitment of parents for school support.
- Recruit parents to attend campus and district wide Parent Advisory Council meetings.
- Develop a monthly newsletter and calendar for parents in both English and Spanish.
- Conduct parent training at the campus level.
- Act as liaison between the district and various parent organizations within the district and city.
