Terms of Employment:

11 months/ 202 days per year.  Salary is at Administrative Program Job Group 4 on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable.  Annual salary range is $59,998 – $71,427 based upon directly related experience with an additional stipend of $7,000.00 for Instructional Coaching duties.

  

Primary Purpose:

The Advanced Placement Coach for ELAR collaborates and provides job-embedded professional development such as co-teaching, modeling, data sessions, and coaching sessions etc. to Advanced Placement ELAR Teachers. The Advanced Placement Coach for ELAR is both a practitioner and a collaborator who develops effective and aligned student learning, demonstrates understanding of the Advanced Placement tests and best pedagogical practices that produce results, uses a collaborative approach to community and family partnerships, and is a support role for the Advanced Placement program ensuring that both students and teachers are engaged to participate in high-leverage supportive and personalized collaborative instruction fostering college readiness skills in an academically rigorous setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Valid Texas teaching certification by the Texas State Board of Education in assigned content area.

Experience:

  • AP Reader experience preferred
  • Designing curriculum preferred
  • Implementing College Board’s Spring Board Curriculum preferred
  • Highly recommend three (3) years teaching of successful teaching in an Advanced Placement English III and/or English IV classroom
  • Implementing effective instructional strategies with special populations such as ELL, Special Education, and Gifted and Talented learners
  • Data analysis protocols to include College Board reports and TEA Accountability
  • Teaching learners in an urban school system with diverse student populations
  • In collaborating with adult learners, developing and providing professional development, and creating strong community relationships

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge in a content specific and/or specialty curriculum, assessment and instruction
  • Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and College Board Content Standards
  • Knowledge of curriculum design focused on reading, writing, organization, collaboration and inquiry strategies
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of college and career readiness skills
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of differentiated instruction
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Adult Learning Theory
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates initiative, effective organizational skills, problem solving skills and the ability to motivate people
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and the interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, parents, administration and the community
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Office 365 (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Demonstrates self-awareness and cultural awareness and positively contributes to the organizational climate and culture
  • Detail oriented and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  1. Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with Advanced Academics and campuses to select and implement a TEKS/Advanced Placement Student Expectations aligned effective curriculum design and instructional implementation to enhance learning experiences for both students and teachers.
  2. Provides instructional leadership and support to teachers, and administrators focused on the Advanced Placement equity statement and guided by the Course standards.
  3. Assists campuses with data analysis and the development of action plans in response to the data to include creating tutorial schedules.
  4. Plans, leads and participates in instructional planning and syllabus development with campus curriculum coaches, and /or grade-level subject teachers.
  5. Designs targeted and aligned curriculum driven by data-informed decisions for Advanced Placement classes.
  6. Designs, plans and implements a model Advanced Placement classroom and uses effective practices to lead instruction.
  7. Facilitates the creation of benchmark assessments.
  8. Develop a professional development menu of services for campuses.
  9. Provide individualized campus-based and classroom-based support to implement a comprehensive job-embedded professional development program utilizing co-planning modeling, co-teaching, coaching and observing classroom instruction providing feedback and assistance to classroom teachers and campus leaders to facilitate improvement and innovation.
  10. Utilizes instructional technology to enhance teaching practices.
  11. Assists teachers with selecting and modifying instructional materials to ensure alignment with TEKS/SEs, College Board curriculum and to address individual student needs effectively. Conducts demonstration lessons as an AP classroom teacher.
  12. Participates in campus walks with campus leadership teams and district team members.
  13. Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and district policies, rules and regulations.
  14. Disseminate information on current trends and research in curriculum and instruction and urban education.
  15. Encourages teacher participation in workshops and conferences.
  16. Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
  17. Demonstrate an innovative and collaborative digital approach to community and family partnerships.
  18. Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.) work outside, work around moving objects or vehicles, work on uneven surfaces, work alone, work prolonged or irregular hours.
