Terms of Employment:
12 months/ 234 days per year. Compensation is at Auxiliary Pay Plan AUX8 on the EISD Compensation Plan. Entry level rate of pay is $27.54/hour with additional consideration based upon directly related experience.
Primary Purpose: Responsible for supervising and coordinating grounds keepers’ work activities and ensuring that all designated areas are maintained in a safe, clean and attractive manner.
NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant, before continuing within the process towards possible employment.
Qualifications: Education/Certification
- High School graduate or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting agency)
- Valid Texas Driver’s License Class C with a good driving record and must meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility
Experience:
- Three years in outside building maintenance
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Must possess good communication and supervisory skills
- Must possess good organizational skills
- Ability to operate heavy-duty machinery for grounds maintenance
- Ability to handle all yard tools and equipment
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to effectively, coordinate multiple tasks
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assists with ground maintenance work.
- Operates equipment used in grounds maintenance.
- Observes safety precautions and compliance related directives for assigned employees.
- Ensures that the assigned tools, equipment and vehicles are maintained in operable condition.
- Is knowledgeable of correct materials, chemicals and equipment used in grounds maintenance.
- Keeps accurate records on supplies, materials used, and the amount of time required for each job.
- Other assigned duties and responsible for department in Foreman’s absence.
- Other duties as assigned – in the best interest of the district.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises and coordinates grounds keepers’ assignments.
Equipment Used: Use Jack Hammers, Tractors, Riding Mowers, Front End Loaders, Lawn Mowers, Grinders, Grass Edgers, Backhoes, Weed Eaters, Fork Lift Trucks, Skid Loaders, Trenchers, Generators, High Pressure Washers, Air Compressors, Dump Trucks, Pumps.
Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Strenuous walking, standing and/or climbing. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds without assistance/ Work outside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures (all weather elements); exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials/ There are inherent hazards of edger string burns, scrapes, cuts, hits from rocks, wire, cans and falling from tractors, mowers and trees. Exposed to slippery or uneven walking surfaces and climbing ladders.
