Terms of Employment:

12 months/ 226 days per year.  Compensation is Administrative Support Pay Plan Pay Grade 6 on the EISD Compensation Plan. Entry level rate of pay is $18.51/hour with additional consideration based upon directly related experience. 

 

Primary Purpose:
This position provides clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of the Superintendent’s Office. Supports the office administration with daily clerical and all department activities, including but not limited to: handling inquiries and incoming work requests, bookkeeping, typing documents and correspondance, and managing surveys. Handles confidential information and engages in frequent contact with all levels of district employees, outside agencies, and the general public. This position works under direct and general supervision.

 

NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the applicant, before continuing within the process towards possible employment.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or regional accrediting agency)
  • Thirty (30) semester college hours from an accredited college/university or (3) years demonstrated mid-level clerical experience
  • Recent typing test of 30 words per minute must be administered by Workforce Solutions Alamo Career Center before continuing within the process towards possible employment with EISD. Please attach a copy of your typing test results to your online application or fax them to (210) 444-4545.

Experience:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of clerical office experience in a school environment or similar, preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficiency skills in typing, word processing, file maintenance and all clerical duties
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Data Entry and basic math 
  • Must have strong telephone skills and etiquette 
  • Must be proficient in English both written and verbal 
  • Must have ability to maintain organization of office filing systems and projects
  • Knowledge of relevant software applications including MS Office
  • Customer service oriented


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Perform typing, data entry, report preparation, document preparation and general clerical documentation.
  2. Process booking requirements for the office and administration.
  3. Receive incoming calls to include message delivery promptly and accurately.
  4. Organizing and scheduling appointments/meetings.
  5. Maintain filing system and update files on a consistent basis.
  6. Provide clerical services in the area of bookkeeping.
  7. Research, identify and understand federal, state and District policies and regulations.
  8. monitoring and ordering inventory of office supplies.
  9. Receiving, sorting and distributing incoming mail.
  10. Compile information and prepare reports as needed.
  11. Organize and manage routine work activities of the superintendent’s office.
  12. Ensure confidentiality of all information. 
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals/Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting/Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching/Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)/May work prolonged or irregular hoursoccasional districtwide travel/Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
