Description

Terms of Employment: 10 months/ 183 days per year.  Salary is at Instructional Support Pay Grade IS3 on the EISD Compensation Plan. Entry level rate of pay is $13.06/hour with additional consideration based upon directly related experience.

 

Primary Purpose:

Supervise and maintain computer laboratory by providing students with effective reading/learning skills they need for classroom problem learning.

 

NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by applicant.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency)
  • Forty-eight (48) semester college hours from an accredited college or university 
  • Eligible to obtain a Paraprofessional certificate issued by the State Board of Educator Certification 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Assist students and teachers with proper operation of the laboratory equipment.
  2. Provide accurate and timely reports for teachers to use in making data driven decisions for student improvement.
  3. Ensure that the software is functioning and maintained in operable condition.
  4. Prepare laboratory schedules to ensure maximum participation.
  5. Establish and maintain computerized database, including spreadsheets and student folders.
  6. Participate in inservice training, programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed.
  7. Customize student activities based on the Pre-Post test assessment from the management system.
  8. Assist teachers to ensure to program functions according to guidelines.
  9. Ensure that students are enrolled in the computer system according to the levels and courses designated by the classroom teacher.
  10. Maintain an attractive and orderly laboratory conducive to learning.
  11. Assist in providing reports (i.e. course, grouping, gains, and prescriptive scheduling reports) weekly and at the end of the nine week period.
  12. Work with classroom teachers to create a positive and effective learning environment in the laboratory.
  13. Ensure confidentiality of information.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions: 

Mental/Physical/Environmental Factors 

Lifts/Carries 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds occasionally, more than 45 pounds infrequently with assistance/Pushing/Pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically/Maintain emotional control under stress/Continual walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and twisting/Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases
