Terms of Employment: 12 months/ 234 days per year. Compensation is at Auxiliary Pay Plan AUX7 on the EISD Compensation Plan. Entry level rate of pay is $25.04/hour with additional consideration based upon directly related experience.
Primary Purpose:
Responsible to assist with the troubleshooting and repairing heating and air conditioning equipment for the District's campuses and offices and ensuring their safe and efficient operation.
NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by applicant.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency)
- Current Heating and Air Conditioning Master License with the City of San Antonio or a State License Class A or Class B.
- CFC Universal Certified
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record and must meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility
- Vocational Training, preferred
Experience:
- Five years experience in Commercial or Industrial environment
Knowledge/Skills:
- Computer literate preferred and able to read schematics and blueprints
- Knowledgeable on Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations
- Ability to use the all associated equipment and tools such as Leak Detector, Recovery Machine, and LifterJourneyman level position that must be a skilled craftsmen in their trade, actual, practical working experience in the HVAC and/or mechanical equipment service industry
- Ability to work on centrifugal, absorption and screw compressors
- Ability to supervise personnel and effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to diagnose problems and to formulate action plans to ensure completing the job
- Ability to silver solder as required by uniform standardsAbility to wire control circuits as needed
- Ability to make on-the-spot emergency decisions when necessary
- Ability to follow safety procedures at all times
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Repair all types of heating and air condition units to include Chillers, package units, split system units, reciprocating units, Boilers, and window units.
- Assist other technicians in the overhaul of HVAC units.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC, Chillers, boilers, and boiler room related equipment.
- Conduct equipment readings critical for operations, efficient performance, maintenance history, and reporting.
- Complete internal & external maintenance and inspections of boilers, burners, boiler rooms, steam, hot water boilers and associated controls using natural gas, and propane.
- Perform preventive equipment maintenance on HVAC, Chillers, and Boilers.
- Provide clear, accurate, customer-focused verbal & written communication.
- Deliver top quality service in a timely, efficient, & customer-focused manner.
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, and regulatory safety, standards, and protocols.
- Monitor heating and air conditioning meters to ensure the efficient and proper operation of heating and air conditioning units.
- Demonstrates quality workmanship
- Perform other duties as required.
