Terms of Employment: 

12 months/245 days per year.  Salary is at Police Pay Grade PD4 on the EISD Compensation Plan.  Entry level rate of pay is $22.39/hour with additional consideration based upon directly related experience.

 

Primary Purpose:

To investigate all District property crimes, gang activity, pre-employment background checks and criminal violations.  Coordinates with Bexar County District Attorney’s office, San Antonio Police Department, Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and any other law enforcement agency.

 

NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by applicant.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency)
  • Active certification as a Peace Officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education (TCOLE)
  • Enforcement Officer (TCOLE) or meet all TCOLE licensing requirements
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and good driving record

Experience:

  • Five (5) years successful experience as a School District Peace Officer preferred
  • Two (2) years Police Supervisory and or Detective Investigator experience perferred
  • Advance Peace Officer Certification preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Formal supervisory training and/or college preferred
  • Technical knowledge of Police Management System and Central Alarm System preferred

                             

 Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Reviews all case reports, sets priorities and meet critical deadlines.
  2. Schedule and coordinate with narcotic/contraband dog teams for all secondary schools.
  3. Review and analyze crime related activities on District properties and maintain statistics of all criminal activities related to District properties.
  4. Manage the investigations area to include crime prevention, police records,  communication and department corrective actions.
  5. Submit weekly case progress reports to District Chief of Police and administrators.
  6. Coordinate training for the crime prevention programs, gang programs and any other program with all schools and assist administration with developing programs to proactively conduct training to District personnel.
  7. Conduct criminal and personnel investigations.
  8. Monitor the restitution program as outlined in District policy.
  9. Conduct periodic prevention checks of all District properties for evaluation and recommend action plan for the safe and crime-free conditions to curb crime within and around the District.
  10. Assist the Chief of Police and department supervisors with the daily operations of patrol, communications and vehicle maintenance.
  11. Supervise all major crime scenes and incidents.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
  13. Conduct all internal investigations as assigned by the Chief of Police. 
  14. Continuously Educate him/herself and the department on evolving law enforcement investigative techniques, trends and changing laws.

Other information

  1.  Advanced knowledge of patrol functions, criminal investigations, and police report writing and criminal laws. Training in subduing offenders, including use of firearms, baton and handcuffs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

As assigned by the Chief of Police as dictated by special needs/circumstances.

  1. Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include effecting arrest, subduing resisting individuals, chasing fleeing subjects and running, walking, crouching or crawling during emergency operations

  3. Ability to use a bicycle
  4. Ability to effectively deal with personal danger which may include exposure to armed persons, dangerous animals, communicable diseases, hazards of emergency driving and traffic control
  5. Ability to work in a highly stressful emergency environment, under intense threatening conditions
  6. Ability to work exposed to inclement weather conditions
  7. Ability to maintain physical condition to perform essential duties as specified by TCOLE
  8. Will work various shifts.
