Terms of Employment: 
12 months/ 234 days per year. Compensation is at Auxiliary Pay Plan AUX5 on the EISD Compensation Plan. Annual salary range is from $32,891-$39,162 based upon directly related full-time experience.

 

Primary Purpose: 

Perform assigned locksmithing work as it pertains to the maintenance, construction, or modification for district owned or leased institutional hardware and equipment and perform carpenter work as assigned.  Being responsible for all repairs and installations of the districts locking system to insure security and control access.

 

NOTE: Applicant must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by applicant.

 

Qualifications:

Education/ Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency) 
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • License Locksmith by the Texas Department of Public Safety

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Five years experience in locksmithing

 

Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Ability to install, maintain and repair institutional hardware and equipment which include but are not limited to
  2. Panic Devices
  3. Door Closures
  4. Locking Devices
  5. Demonstrate an ability to estimate materials.
  6. Demonstrate an ability to effectively organize and oversee assigned projects.
  7. Working knowledge of uniform building and uniform fire code.
  8. Certification Preferred
  9. Ability to maintain and file records.
  10. Ability to keep an organized shop and stock inventory.
  11. Basic computer skills.
  12. Basic Carpentry skills.

 

Major Responsibilites and Duties:  

  1. Perform field repairs, maintenance and modification to district owned or leased hardware.
  2. Maintain a good driving record.
  3. Maintain an appropriate inventory of parts on his/her vehicle to allow the performance of the assigned daily tasks with a minimum of delay.
  4. Assist in the training of less qualified technicians.
  5. Develop and maintain a good rapport with the personnel at each facility serviced, and keep appropriate personnel advised of our activities at the facility.
  6. Follow established guidelines in locating and purchasing materials and equipment.
  7. Coordinate work with other departments, shops, and /or outside contractors/ vendors.
  8. Ensure that equipment, tools and vehicles under your care are maintained properly.
  9. Must be able to issue and follow directions.
  10. Must be able to develop and work in a team environment.
  11. Complete all tasks assigned, in a timely manner.
  12. Inspect work performed to insure district standards are met.
  13. Interpret key codebooks and cut keys by code.
  14. Duplicate keys.
  15. Pick open locks.
  16. Rekey locks sets and key alike locksets as required.
  17. Knowledge of Falcon Lock System used the throughout the district.
  18. Able to open up districts vehicles due to lock out.
  19. Pin cores and cylinders.
  20. Other assigned duties.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment

Be able to work with people who have diverse educations, personalities and backgrounds. Be able to meet specified deadlines. Be able to accept the responsibility of learning and/or working on new or unfamiliar types of hardware and equipment. Assume all assigned responsibilities. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. Must be able to climb ladders, work on rooftops and work in high places. Must be able to work in cramped quarters, and under buildings. Must be able to distinguish primary colors. Must be able to work in inclement weather (hot, cold, and damp). Walking, standing, knelling, stooping, bending, and squatting for prolonged times. Must be able to work with potentially hazardous materials in a safe manner. Must be able to safely perform required duties in potentially hazardous environments. Shift modifications are required when the effectiveness of the learning environments will be jeopardized by the work at hand. Each employee is scheduled to be "on call" periodically for security or safety concerns which occur outside the normal shift.

 

Safety Hazards:

Inherent hazards of injuries due to lifting, carrying, climbing, crawling, and kneeling. All required safety gear must be used at all time while on the job.
