**ANTICIPATED OPENING FOR THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR**
Primary Purpose: Provides quality standards-based instruction in the area of Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). Plan, conduct, and evaluate training and coaching for the school cadets. Prepare for participation in community activities. Manage an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement.
Qualifications: Associate's Degree or higher Retired Officer with a minimum of 20 years of service. Certified as a JROTC Instructor by Cadet Command.
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of subject matter and the teaching/learning process Knowledge of curriculum and instruction Must have strong leadership ability Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties: Instructional Strategies:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines as established by both board policies and Army regulations, and administrative regulations.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Provides instruction in leadership development, leadership theory, drill and ceremonies, hygiene and first aid, techniques of oral communication, marksmanship and safety, military history, military structure and purpose, staff functions and procedures.
- Models enthusiasm for JROTC and demonstrates current innovations in the industry, including competition within the global economy.
- Administers developmental testing programs, subject-specific formative/summative assessments, and/or the monitoring and development of individual learning growth and student progress towards achieving individual Graduation Pan’s (ISPs) goals.
- Promotes the responsible use of county and U.S. government-issued materials/equipment.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Classroom Management and Organization:
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Professional Growth and Development:
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
