Primary Purpose: Direct and manage the energy management program. Develop and oversee an integrated districtwide energy management program that ensures efficient and effective use of energy resources and meets the comfort, health, and safety needs of students and staff.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, preferred
Office managerial experience, preferred Clear and valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of energy management program development and implementation Knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air-condition systems (HVAC) Ability to use energy accounting and building automation software Proficient in Microsoft Office Ability to analyze and interpret data Ability to implement policy, procedures, and data Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets and databases Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience: One (1) year experience in energy or closely related field, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties: Energy Management
- Analyze energy usage and conduct needs assessment for improvement of energy management procedures, equipment, and systems. Make recommendations for changes based on findings to the Director.
- Lead and oversee some minor District maintenance projects.
- Negotiate rates with local and regional utilities.
- Develop and implement control strategies in building automation software to increase energy efficiency of the HVAC and lighting systems.
- Work cooperatively with building principals and facilities directors to support use of school facilities for extracurricular activities in a manner consistent with energy management guidelines.
- Oversee the installation, repair, and modification of energy management equipment in district facilities. Recommend the disposal and replacement of obsolete equipment when needed.
- Develop and implement the district’s recycling and hazardous waste program.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
- Perform varied typing tasks in the preparation of correspondence, reports, documents, etc., and properly route.
Budget
- Review bids, contracts, payments, or other financial documents related to energy management projects and monitor the purchase of all energy management equipment and supplies.
- Pinpoint budget trends to ensure proper fund usage across the diverse programs.
