Primary Purpose:
Provide early childhood students with instruction according to each student’s individualized education program (IEP). Develop or modify curriculum and prepare lesson plans and prepare other instructional materials.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Teaching Certificate with the required special education endorsements.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Experience working with early childhood children
General knowledge of the early childhood curriculum
Knowledge of the ARD process and IEP development
CPR and First Aid Certified
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support the needs of a PPCD unit.
- Implement the early childhood curriculum.
- Work in planning and providing individual or group assistance to students through utilization of a variety of methods of instruction and learning experiences.
- Prepare instructional material.
- Collection of student evaluation data as necessary for the comprehensive assessment of students, tracking student achievement and educational planning.
- Keep administrative records and preparing required reports.
- Maintain a pleasant learning environment and keep order within the classroom.
- Maintain knowledge of various adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
- Maintain complete confidentiality of all individual student information/records.
- Follow individualized student programs.
- Follow classroom emergency procedures.
- Maintain privacy of students when involved in dressing/undressing activities.
- Handle, clean, and store all special equipment as specified by therapist.
- Perform or assist with medical procedures for which specifically trained by a physician, i.e., suctioning, tube feeding, clean intermittent catheterization, etc., as directed by special education teacher.
- Assist with lifting, handling, feeding, changing, toileting and other needs specific to the special population.
- Maintain behavior management, including crisis intervention and restraint procedures.
- Monitor Special Education students when provided district transportation, including arrival and departure of buses, student behavior on buses, etc.
- Other special education duties as assigned by the principal.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Standing, stooping, bending and lifting and exposure to body fluids and waste. Selected applicant will need to have a physical completed upon hire.
