Responsibilities:
Lift and carry students with disabilities on and off the bus according to individual needs
Manage student behavior and report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator
Communicate with appropriate staff on a daily basis regarding student behavior while on bus
Become familiar with all routes
Become familiar and follow procedures established by transportation
Provides safe, efficient, and timely transportation of the District's school children
Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the exterior and interior of the school buses
Works irregular hours as needed
Performs routine safety maintenance check on school buses, and reports parts requiring preventive maintenance or repair
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge:
Effective verbal communication skills
Ability to exercise caution and good judgement
Familiar with students who need special assistance
Alert, focused, and able to be out quickly to any driving conditions and situations
Must be familiar with route schedule in order to provide directions to substitute bus drivers
Able to determine thorough safety maintenance checks if the bus is functioning properly or if repairs are needed
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Preferred Minimum of 1 year experience preferred working with students in public schools.
Must clear fingerprinting check prior to employment (Senate Bill 9)
